ABOUT MORGAN
Morgan Rimmer graduated Summa Cum Laude from Vanderbilt University in the Spring of 2020, where she studied Political Science and Spanish with a minor in History. She enjoys writing of all kinds, from research papers on The Pentagon Papers to articles for CNN Digital.
Currently, Morgan is a News Associate at CNN, where she worked on the 2020 Election and is covering the Overnight Desk, stepping into the assignment editor's shoes as needed.
She has interned for Senator Johnny Isakson (R-GA), as well as CNN. Both of these experiences brought her to Capitol Hill, where she dove in to the hustle of the legislative branch. While at CNN, she worked in Newsgathering, chasing lawmakers across the Hill for sound bites. She has spoken with presidential candidates, committee chairs, and Congressional leaders on a wide range of topics, from budget negotiations to rape allegations. Morgan contributed to CNN Digital's coverage of the Hill, and collected a few bylines throughout her internship. She also produced for CNN correspondents Manu Raju, Sunlen Serfaty, and Phil Mattingly.
While interning for Senator Isakson, Morgan focused on constituent services and scheduling, both of which contributed to her belief that the American people rely on the media to hold their representatives accountable. She gave tours of the U.S. Capitol, handled meeting requests for the Senator and his staff, and coordinated with other Senate offices on both sides of the aisle.
Beyond her love for politics and journalism, Morgan is an experienced traveler, having visited 15 countries by the time she turned 21. These include her semester abroad in Italy, where she expanded her language skills past English and Spanish, and studied Italian and European politics.
